A School On the Rise: Royal Gorge Academy

Now, here’s another boarding school for the books. Royal Gorge Academy prides itself in personalized learning. It offers a full curriculum in all academic core subjects and a variety of electives. Why? Because they believe that a well rounded education enables the student to achieve their full potential. Their curriculum is in accordance with the Colorado Model Content Standards, as mandated by the “No Child Left Behind” federal legislation of 2001.

Royal Gorge Academy believes that all students can thrive in a structured environment that emphasizes the following: personal responsibility, academic excellence, and respect. With these ideals in mind, they are deemed to have an effective Character Development Program, which is also known as Positive Peer Culture. This is interwoven with the student’s academic progress and achievement.

Royal Gorge Academy has an expansive ground that covers around 7.5 acres and 5 separate buildings. The main building, which was built in the 1930’s, houses the dorm rooms, cafeteria, administration offices, and has a spacious recreation room. The academic building, which was built in the 1980’s, houses the classrooms, academic offices, and a performing arts auditorium. There is also a library and conference center on the grounds and a full gymnasium with an indoor swimming pool and workout room. On the outer grounds we have tennis courts and a future soccer/football field.
